This list is for publicising philosophy-related events in the Sydney region. It is intended to be an announcement list, not a discussion list. Previous postings to the list are accessible at the SydPhil Archives, or at the new list archive here.

Posting to SydPhil

Messages for the list should be emailed to sydphil@arts.usyd.edu.au. Any subscriber may post directly to the list. Please do not include email attachments. Large attachments are rejected automatically, and no attachments are send to subscribers who opt to receive their message in Digest form.

Common Problems

If you have subscribed successfully, but get a message in response to a post saying that you are not authorised to post to the list, then you are trying to post from a different address from the one you subscribed. Your email server may know that they belong to the same person, but the list software doesn't! The easiest solution is to use the form below to subscribe the second address as well -- i.e., the address your "Not authorised to post" message has been sent to. (You can find out what that address is by using the "Reply to all" option on that message. The version of your own email address that appears in the "To" field when you hit "Reply to all" is the one you tried to post from in the first place.) When you have subscribed the second address, you'll get two copies of all the posts. But you can set one address not to receive mail from the list, using the Options for existing subscribers form below.

Subscribing to SydPhil

To subscribe to SydPhil, use the following form. You will be sent email requesting confirmation, to prevent others from gratuitously subscribing you. This is a hidden list, which means that the list of members is available only to the list administrator. Your email address: Your name (optional): You may enter a privacy password below. This provides only mild security, but should prevent others from messing with your subscription. Do not use a valuable password, because it will occasionally be emailed back to you in cleartext. If you choose not to enter a password, one will be automatically generated for you, and it will be emailed to you once you've confirmed your subscription. You will be emailed a monthly reminder of your password, and you may also request a reminder whenever you edit your personal options (see below). Options for existing subscribers

To unsubscribe from SydPhil, get a password reminder, or change your subscription options, enter your subscription email address: (If you leave the field blank, you will be prompted for your email address.)
